About DJ Rutvikk
I’m Rutvikk, a DJ and music producer with over 8 years of experience and 1,500+ performances across India, the UK, Ireland, and Wales. My journey has taken me to diverse stages, clubs, and international audiences, including Ministry of Sound, London. My musical versatility spans Bollywood, commercial, house, EDM, hip-hop, and open-format sets, allowing me to adapt to different crowds while maintaining my own identity behind the decks. For me, DJing is more than playing music; it’s about understanding the crowd, creating moments, and turning a set into an experience people remember.

Tell us how your journey as a DJ began.
My journey as a DJ began with a genuine fascination for music and the way it could influence people’s energy and emotions. What started as a passion gradually became a serious pursuit, pushing me to learn the technical side of DJing, understand music selection and transitions, and develop my ability to read a crowd. Over the years, I invested countless hours into refining my craft, performing at different venues, and learning from every audience. That journey has taken me from local gigs to international stages, and I’m still driven by the same passion that got me started.
What inspired you to pursue DJing professionally?
What inspired me was the ability to connect with people through music without needing words. The energy of a crowd, the anticipation before a drop, and the feeling of seeing an entire room respond to the same track made me realise that DJing could be much more than a hobby. I wanted to build a career around that feeling, push my creative boundaries, and develop a sound and identity of my own. The opportunity to bring different genres and cultures together through music continues to inspire me to grow as an artist.
How would you describe your signature sound and what makes it difficult?
My signature sound is versatile, high-energy, and driven by instinctive crowd reading. I blend Bollywood and commercial favourites with house, EDM, hip-hop, and global club sounds, creating sets that balance familiarity with unexpected transitions and fresh musical combinations. What makes my approach unique is my ability to move between genres and adapt to different audiences without losing the flow or identity of the set. I focus on musical storytelling, energy progression, and creating moments that keep people engaged from the first track to the last.
How do you read a crowd and decide what to play next?
I read a crowd through their body language, energy, familiarity with the music, and how they respond to transitions and drops. I pay attention to whether people are singing along, dancing, engaging with each other, or losing interest, and adjust my selection accordingly. I don’t believe in following a fixed playlist blindly; I build the set dynamically, balancing familiar tracks with unexpected selections while managing energy and momentum. For me, the real skill is knowing not just what to play, but when to play it.

Is there a track or style you love playing when the energy needs a boost? Why?
I love using high-impact Bollywood bangers, powerful hip-hop transitions, and energetic house or EDM drops, depending on the crowd. A familiar vocal or hook can instantly reconnect people with the music, while a well-timed drop can completely change the room’s energy. I enjoy combining recognition with surprise, using creative transitions and unexpected switches to turn a moment into something memorable rather than simply playing a louder track.
Do you produce your own music, or remix existing tracks?
Yes, I’m both a DJ and a music producer. I produce original electronic music under my alias VASUKI, exploring underground sounds and club-focused genres, while also working with edits, mashups, and creative transitions for my DJ sets. Production allows me to develop my own musical identity, experiment beyond conventional genre boundaries, and bring a more personal and distinctive element to my performances.

Describe your sound in 3 words?
Versatile. Energetic. Unpredictable.
What are your future goals as a DJ?
My goal is to establish myself as a globally recognised DJ and producer, performing at major festivals, iconic clubs, and international stages while continuing to evolve musically. I want to build a distinctive identity that bridges Bollywood, global club music, and underground electronic sounds, while creating original music that people connect with beyond the dance floor. Ultimately, I want to be known not just for the shows I play, but for the sound, experiences, and influence I bring to the music industry.
